Peace Child Israel's Season Performances2010 Season Playbill- The Little Prince THE LITTLE PRINCE Nazareth and Yagur Leadership Troupe
The Group Process The group consists of two schools which have been implementing the “Du-Drama” program for four consecutive years: Galilee School, Nazareth and the Carmel-Zevulun School in Yagur.
The recruitment of the group in Yagur was slow-going this year, and there was a mixture of 9th and 10th grade students. The recruitment and audition in Nazareth was more enthusiastic. The group met weekly since the beginning of October and went on a team-building seminar for 3 days in November. They attended the field trip to the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center in December 2009 and began adapting the classic French script to make it relevant for Arab and Jewish youth. There was an initial resistance to the script and it took quite awhile for the group to see the pearl and wisdom of the text as something that was relevant for the here-and-now of the group itself. Nurit Parente and Raida Hasson, the group facilitators, worked diligently to further enhance the adaptation with content that emerged from the group experience by creating a “choir of the people”, a take-off of the classic Greek Chorus. A new character, the “Navigator” was played by both Hebrew and Arabic-speaking actors. The role of The Little prince” was also assigned to 6 different actors, 3 Arab and 3 Jewish. Synopsis
