Magic & Theatre of the Absurd

Keeping the Channels Open

December 11, 2009

09:00-15:00

Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center

No matter how absurd a theatre initiative for Arabs and Jews may seem these days, 150 teens from 14 schools around the country will convene at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center (Shaul HaMelech Street) to celebrate the magic of theatre, backstage and in make-up.

A special darbouka extravaganza by Bishara Nadaf will be one of the stops on a 3-legged tour of the facility, including glimpses of the mainstage and backstage operations,  workshops for make-up costume fittings. The cadre of young leaders are  given this special fieldtrip for the purpose of learning about the magic of the stage and the power they hold to make a difference using theatre.

Participants will arrive at the opera house at 09:00 from schools in Matte Asher (Western Galilee), Sakhnin, Misgav, Nazereth, Yagur, Bakaa al-Gharbiya, Petach Tikvah, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Holon, Tira and Kfar Saba.  The day will conclude with a bonus concert by Emad Dalal and Ensemble at 14:00.
